About Infoy

Background

The Initiative for Youth (Infoy) is a non-governmental organization that was officially established and registered in Tanzania on August 14, 2008, under the NGO’s Act of 2002, bearing the registration number OONGO/00002363.

The ngo is initially founded with a strong commitment to empowering women, children, and youth with essential skills and knowledge. Infoy strives to foster their active participation in various development processes. More specifically, the organization concentrates its efforts on supporting poor women, children, and youth across Tanzania. Notably, its operational mandate spans the entire mainland. This allows it to reach a wide range of communities throughout the country.

Over time, Infoy has consistently demonstrated its dedication through the implementation of various community development and education intervention projects. These efforts have been particularly concentrated in regions such as Arusha, Singida, Manyara, and Tanga. As a result, these initiatives have improved access to quality education for vulnerable and marginalised children, especially girls. They also promote school retention and completion among disadvantaged groups. In addition, the projects advocate for children’s rights. They emphasise education as essential for building a better future.

Furthermore, many of these programs align with Infoy’s mission and vision. They address key community development challenges and offer sustainable solutions. Through strategic advocacy and community engagement, Infoy helps facilitate meaningful, positive change. Ultimately, Infoy promotes self-reliance and quality education as core pillars of community development.

Vision and Mission

Our vision is to foster a society where youth, orphans, and vulnerable children live happy lives with access to free, quality education.

Our mission is to educate youth, orphans, and disadvantaged children during early adolescence, equipping them with the knowledge, manners, and skills needed for development and self-sufficiency.

Core Values

At Infoy, we firmly believe that local communities and impoverished individuals have the potential to contribute meaningfully to development. Therefore, we are committed to building partnerships at local, national, and international levels with governmental and non-governmental organizations. Through these collaborations, we aim to strengthen self-confidence among marginalized groups and create positive change in poverty alleviation and education. Our efforts focus on reaching communities across Tanzania, where these needs are often most urgent.

Moreover, we are dedicated to supporting orphans and street children, recognizing their critical need for basic support, especially education. By providing food, shelter, and schooling, we enable these children to attend accessible schools or colleges in their areas. In doing so, we strive to promote equitable access to education for all, leaving no child behind due to poverty or exclusion.

At Infoy, our work is deeply guided by a set of core values that shape our mission, relationships, and impact. These principles are essential in driving our commitment to development and social change. Specifically, our core values include:

  • Integrity means upholding high standards of professionalism, transparency, and honesty in all actions. We aim to build trust with our partners and communities through consistent, ethical behavior.
  • Accountability reflects our commitment to managing resources responsibly and achieving meaningful, lasting results for partners, donors, and communities alike. We communicate clearly and measure our outcomes to ensure we meet expectations.
  • Respect is central to how we operate; we value diversity and treat everyone with dignity, sensitivity, and fairness. Inclusive environments help us foster collaboration and understanding across all levels.
  • Finally, creativity drives us to find innovative solutions that create sustainable, positive change. We constantly explore new ideas to overcome complex challenges and improve lives.
